Focus on Photovoltaic Carport Structures

Since July 1, new legislation requires the gradual installation of photovoltaic carport structures on outdoor parking lots larger than 1,500 m², covering at least half of their surface area.

The Energy Transition for Green Growth Act, known as the “ENR Law,” was passed in 2015 with the goal of pushing France’s solar energy production capacity beyond 10 GW. Equipping large outdoor parking areas with photovoltaic panels installed on carports is an excellent way to reduce energy costs, cut carbon emissions, and support the environment — all while generating renewable energy.

By making better use of these spaces, photovoltaic carports not only provide protection against sun, rain, and snow, but also produce clean energy. The cost of installation is quickly offset thanks to the sale of surplus electricity generated by the solar panels to EDF.

The teams at DERICHEBOURG Energie EP have already been involved in several such projects and continue to support their clients with innovative solutions for outdoor electrical infrastructures and networks.
